Hi everyone and happy Tuesday! Today I wanted to do a review on the highly sought after Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation. I mentioned this foundation on my Beauty Holiday Gift Guide and I finally got my hands on it. I’ve always loved Huda Kattan and the Huda Beauty lashes so when I heard about her new foundation, I knew I had to try it. I bought this foundation myself and these are my genuine thoughts and first impressions after wearing it. Hopefully this review will be helpful if you are debating whether of not the Huda Beauty faux filter foundation is worth buying.
Just for info I’m the shade NW43 in MAC and the shade 10 in Giorgio Armani and my skin type is normal.
Once I unboxed the foundation, right off the bat I really liked the packaging of the foundation. Huda Beauty has always put out products with great, functional packaging. It is very sleek and super simple in my opinion, it is made out of a hard plastic (another plus for me because I drop and break everything). The bottle has a built in pump, which is nice and what I prefer for my foundations to have.
The Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation
Now moving on to the actual foundation, I bought the shade Cinnamon 440G, which is for ultra tan skin tones with golden undertones. I worried that this shade might be too light for me at first but after swatching multiple shades, I realized that the Huda Beauty foundation oxidizes (dries darker on the skin). The foundation dries very quickly and leaves a matte finish, which by the way I am obsessed with because I live in Atlanta and the humidity here is no joke! I also wanted to acknowledge the fact that Huda has created an all inclusive shade range with 30 different shades. I’ve added the swatches of the Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation above so you can find your shade.
While applying the Huda Beauty foundation, I noticed that it had a faint rose smell to it. The smell was not overbearing and I did not mind it, but some may not enjoy it. The foundation also has a thick consistency and it has an amazing coverage, which is perfect for covering up blemishes, spots, and imperfections. Like I said before, the foundation does dry pretty fast but it blends into the skin very well. Once completely applied, it left a flawless, natural, mattified finish and like I predicted, the shade did end up matching my skin tone perfectly!
I then applied my all time fave Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Tan Sand. I always set my face after my foundation and I used the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Micro Finishing Powder. Honestly though, I truly do not need to apply a finishing powder, because this foundation dries with almost a powdery finish. To complete this look I applied the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Sun Dipped to highlight.
The rest of the products I used for this look will be linked below.
So the wear time on the Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation is beyond amazing! It lasted me an entire day beautifully. It did not become oily or sticky, even towards the end of the day. While I was in South Florida for a wedding, I wore the Huda Beauty foundation and it kept it’s normal matte finish without becoming oily. Because of the warm temps and high humidity, I truly thought that it would have melted off but it lasted me the entire night.
I am super impressed with Huda Beauty and this foundation, it did not become cakey, there was no patchiness and no weird lines. I love that this is able to create a natural matte finish, I haven’t been able to find another foundation that does this with my skin. It is nice that I can be out and not have to worry about my foundation looking jacked up after a couple hours. I appreciate the amount of shades provided, as a WOC, I appreciate that she was able to create a vast shade range that accommodates everyone.
Huda has done quite an amazing job with her makeup line and I can’t wait to see what she does next. Since the foundation is practically sold out everywhere in the United States, it can still be found on the Huda Beauty site and online at Cult Beauty. The Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation retails for $40 USD.
